I WOULD GAMBLE ANYTHING, SUFFER THROUGH ANYTHING, IF THE PAIN WOULD BE FELT MORE QUICKLY.
Until now, I had thought of him as a statuesque figure, carved from stone on not only the outside, but the inside too. Yet, the statue of David never once shed blood, making the comparison now seem ridiculously unrealistic. A crimson stream ran from his forehead, and he wiped it away with an unsteady hand. Yet it continued to flow rapidly, and I felt a wave of nausea wash over me.
